The Fort Wayne Wizards pounded out 14 hits as they won their home opener over the Beloit Snappers 7-2 in Midwest League play Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Fort Wayne tagged Snappers reliever Simon Beresford with nine hits, two walks and five earned runs in 2.1 innings.

The Wizards broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth inning.

left hander Sean Thompson picked up the win for the Wizards. He went 6.1 innings, scattering five hits and allowing two runs (one earned)

The Snappers Carlos Villanueva took the loss. He went 5.2 innings, allowing two earned runs and five hits.

First baseman Manuel Ramirez hit a solo home run. Beloit's first of the season.

Lou Palmisano and Vinny Rottino each went 2 for 4, but the trio above them, the 1-2-3 hitters were a combined 0 for 11.
