The Cougars got shelled tonight, they just weren't able to shut down the Peoria offense this series. The Chiefs were out hit in three out of the five game by the Cougars. The only problem is that the Chiefs won four out of the five games. This game was just over after the Cougars lost thier 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth, it was just over. The Chiefs hit three homers in the game off of three diffrent pitchers, non of the pitchers had terribly good games.

Phil Akens made his team high tenth start and just did not have his good stuff today. He lasted into the sixth. Phil gave up eight hits and seven runs. Only six of those runs were earned. Akens walked three and struck out four. He also threw two wild pitches, two of the three walks would score.

Akens had two rough innings, the first and the fourth. In each of those innings he gave up four hits and three runs.

In the first inning, right off the bat things went bad for Akens. Shaun Boyd hit a lead off homer to left field. Jesse Roman then singled to center, he would get to second on a wild pitch. Tim Lemon then walked. Chris Duncan singled to right to score Roman. He would get to second on a wild pitch. Gabe Johnson then grounded out to short, on the play Lemon would score.

In the second inning Akens picked off Chase Voshell from first base to help him get out of the inning unscaved. Voshell had walked to lead off the inning. Jesse Roman then lead off the third inning with a walk. Akens again would settle down and get out of the jam while leaving Roman stranded and second.

Luck would run out on Akens in the fourth when he gave up three more runs. With one out, John Nelson singled to center. Chase Voshell then grounded one to third. The ball went right through third baseman's Michael Tucker legs for and error. On the play Nelson would get to third and Voshell would pull into second. Rick Asadoorian then singled to center to score Nelson. Shaun Boyd hit one off of the wall in center for a triple to score Voshell and Asadoorian.

The Chiefs had the reignin pitcher of the week for the league go for them today. Danny Haren, He got into the seventh inning, but got roughed up a bit. He gave up eleven hits and four runs.

The Cougars did get Haren for runs in the third. Kris Clute singled to right to led things off. Anthony Brewer walked. William Arroyo then singled to short. Charles Frazier would reached on a fielder's choice with Arroyo being out. On the play Clute would score. Frazier would be picked off of first. Haren ran at him and Frazier tried to get into a run down, Brewer broke home, and was able to score. The Chiefs threw home and Frazier pulled into second with out any trouble. Scott Hicks singled to center to score Frazier. Haren would be able to get out of the inning with out much more trouble with a couple of pop outs.

In the fourth inning, on the first pitch of the inning. Rex Rundgren hit a homer to left field to put the Cougars up by one run.

It did not get much better with a pitching change. The Cougars brought in David Johnston and he lasted two innings. Johnston got out of the trouble that Akens got himself into in the sixth but created his own trouble in the seventh. He gave up three runs on one hit.

Akens allowed John Nelson to double to left to led off the sixth. Chase Voshell then doubled down the line to left to get Nelson home. The Cougars then brought in Johnston. Asadoorian then flied out to left. Boyd struck out to end the inning.

In the seventh Johnston would get into his own mess. Jesse Roman led things off with a walk. Tim Lemon then walked. Chris Duncan hit into a fielder's choice, with Lemon being out at second. Gabe Johnson hita long homer to left centerfield on the first pitch to allow Roman and Duncan to score in front of him.

Tyler Banks came in for the eighth inning. He did not pitch all that well to say the least. Banks gave up six hits and six runs, including a grand slam home run.

Chase Voshell led off the inning with a single to left. Rick Asadoorian then flied to center. Shaun Boyd singled to right. Jesse Roman walked to load the bases. Tim Lemon then hit a grand slam to left field to put the game way out of reach. The inning would continue though. Chris Duncan singled to right. Gabe Johnson singled to right. Yadier Molina flied to right. John Nelson then doubled to right to score both Duncan and Johnson.

Rex Rundgren had a good day for the Cougars since he hit his first homer off the season. Kris Clute had two hits, and scored a run. William Arroyo had two singles. Charles Frazier had two singles and scored a run. Dennis Anderson had two hits, and a walk. He also did some nice, smart base running. George Arnott had two hits, including a double.
