Kane County Cougars at Peoria Chiefs

The Cougars used a ten run eighth inning to get them to a eight run win against the Peoria Chiefs. In that inning the Chiefs walked three and all of them would score.

Luke Appert started it off with a single to right. After that single the Chiefs took their first reliever out and brought in Jason Burch. David Castillo greated him with a double to right to score Appert. Vasili Spanos walked. Along with Brian Snyder which made it bases loaded. Dustin Majewski would strike out for the first out of the inning. Luis Perez doubled to left to score both Castillo and Spanos. Eddie Kim was intentionally walked to reload the bases. Chris Tritle pitch ran for him. At this point with two run in for the inning that would make it a tie game at four.

Nick Rogers hit one down the left field line for a double, on the play both Snyder and Perez scored. The Chiefs made another pitching change, this time Peter Soteropoulos came in. Brian Ingram would great him with a double to right to score both Tritle and Rogers. Appert then reached on a error on the second baseman. This made it runners on first and third with one out. David Castillo struck out, on strike three Appert stole second base. Spanos singled to right to score both Ingram and Appert.

Again the Chiefs would make a pitching change, this time to bring in Wayne Lundgren. Snyder greated Lundgren with a double to right to score Spanos. Majewski would ground out to second to end the inning.

The Cougars actually started the scoring in the third inning. Rogers led off by reaching on an error by the third baseman, he then stole second. Two outs later Castillo singled to right to score Rogers.

Peoria would get their four runs, two at a time. Two in the fourth and two in the fifth. In the fourth with one out, Tyler Parker reached on an error by short stop Ingram. Daric Barton then reached on an error by first baseman Vasili Spanos, Parker would get to third on the error. One out later Sal Frisella singled to third, on the play Parker would score. Joe Mather then singled down the left field line to allow Barton to score. Jarrett Hoffpauir would ground out to first to end the inning.

In the fifth inning the Chiefs scored two more runs. Anthony Monegan led off with a double to left. Brenden Ryan would reach on a single to third. Monegan would score and Ryan would get to third on a throwing error by third baseman Snyder on the play. One out later Parker grounded out to short, on the play Ryan scored.

The Cougars would creep a little closer in the seventh inning with one run. With two outs, Rogers triple to right. He then scored on a wild pitch.

The bullpen really came through for the Cougars as Dan Fyvie and Jose Corchado combined for four shutout innings. Fyvie threw three no hit innings, giving up one walk. Corchado had to get out of some trouble as he pitched the ninth. Corchado walked Mather to led things off. One out later, Monegan singled to third. Ryan then reached on a fielder's choice, with Monegan being out at second. Cody Haerther then grounded out to short to end the game.
