Kane County Cougars at Peoria Chiefs

How does good pitching and ok defense add up to a victory? Well I guess sometimes strange things do happend. The game was tied at nothing going into the bottom of the ninth, a great game.
Jordan Pals started for the Chiefs and went into the seventh. He gave up three hits and two walks. Pals retired the first nine he faced. Seven of them on ground balls. The Cougars would only get one chance off of him, that would come in the fifth inning. With one out Trevor Brown singled to short. David Harriman followed that with a single to center. Chris Tritle would then walk to load the bases, with only the one out. Luis Perez would then hit into the round the horn inning ending double play.
The next Cougar uprising would be in the seventh inning. Pals was able to get the first two outs. Harriman would walk. Then the Chiefs took Pals out and brought in Wayne Lundgren. Title struck out, but advance on a passed ball. Now with runners on first and second with two outs, Perez had another chance. This time unfortunatly he would strike out.
Chris Dunwell pitched a great game for eight innings. He gave up two hits and two walks. While also striking out seven. In the sixth inning he would strike out the side. He would give up a leadoff single in the seventh, then two strikeouts and a ground out would stand the Chiefs at second.
With one out in the eighth inning the Cougars had another chance. Luke Appert walked. David Castillo then singled to left. Brian Snyder lined one t the second baseman, who threw to the short stop who was covering second to double off Appert to get out of the inning. More fun or frustration depending on your view of the Cougars, in the ninth. Dustin Majewski lead off with a walk. A passed ball would get Majewski to second, then he stole third. Vasili Spanos pitch hit for Brown and would walk, then he stole second, scary!, Harriman then struck out for the first out. With men on the corners and one out, Chris Tritle got pitch hit for with Eddie Kim who would strike out. Luis Perez came up for the third time with runners on and again he struck out to end the inning.
The lone run of the game would be in the ninth inning for the Chiefs. Cody Haerther led off with a single to left, then stole second. John Paul Davis flew out to center for the first out. Sal Frisella pitch hit for Matt Pagnozzi, and would strike out. Tyler Parker was then intentionally walked. Jarrett Hoffpauir ended the game with a single to left to score Haerther.
