July 5th, 2004

The Cougars just got by the Rattlers in tonights game, they scored five runs in the middle three innings. Then they watched the Rattlers score four in the ninth to make it really interesting.

They almost wasted a great outing by both Brad Knox and Brigmer Leon. Knox went six innings, though he got into trouble twice he was somehow able to wiggle out of it. Leon pitched two scoreless innings, giving up only one hit.

Knox would be in trouble in the second and the fifth innings, In the second inning, Bryan LaHair singled to left to led things off. Two outs later, Jeremy Dutton singled to right, that would move LaHair to second. A wild pitch would then allow both runners to move along a base. After a fight with Wladimir Balentien in which he fouled off three pitches, Knox would then strike him out.

The Cougars would get on the board in the fourth inning with two runs. With two outs, Vasili Spanos singled to center. Dustin Majewski then doubled down the right field line to get Spanos to third. David Harriman singled to left to score both Spanos and Majewski. In the fifth inning the Cougars would get two more runs. Chris Tritle led off with a single to center, Two outs later, Tritle would steal second. Luke Appert then singled to right to score Tritle, on the throw home Appert would take second. Brian Snyder followed that with a single through the middle to score Appert.

The final Cougar run came in the sixth inning. Majewski led off with a single to left, then stole second. Harriman then lined one off of the pitcher, that went to the short stop and Harirman would end up being thrown out at first. Majewski though made it to third. Eddie Kim singled to center to score Majewski for the fifth run of the game.

THe top of the ninth the Cougars were just spectators. Eric Blakeley led off with a single to center, he would get to second on a wild pitch. On eout later, Dutton walked. The Cougars then made a pitching change, to bring in Dan Fyvie to replace Manny Rodriguez. Bladentien reached on a fielder's choice, with Dutton being out at second. Justin Ruchti doubled to left to score both Blakeley and Bladentien. Josh Womack would follow with a triple to right to score Ruchti. Nick Orlando then reached on a single to short, the throw was wide, on the play Womack scored to make it a one run game. The Cougars would then made another pitching change bringin Jose Corchado to replace Fyvie. Adam Joes lined one to center, that Majewski caught to thankfully end the game.

The Cougars could've not been in that situation, they had a chance to put some runs up on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning. Majewski led off with a single to short. Harriman then singled through the hole on the right side on a hit and run, getting Majewski to third. Harriman would see second on a wild pitch. Eddie Kim then struck out for the first out. The Rattlers then made a pitching change, bringin Bryan Stitt to replace Casey Abrams. Stitt got Tritle on strikes for the second out. Nick Rogers then flew out to right to end the inning stranding both runners.

Dustin Majewski went four for four with two runs scored. He had a double and a stolen base also.
