Steve Bondurant woke the Cougars up today, as he pitched eight innings of two hit shutout ball to get his twelth win of the season. The win ties him for fourth all time for wins in a single season with Rick Krivda and Rey Mendoza..

Bondurant gave up two singles in the first inning and that would be it. A strike out and a fielder's choice later, he was headed back to the dugout. Steve retired the final 23 Caps that he faced. The really good thing is no walks and ten strike outs.

Dan Fyvie came in and got the save in the ninth for his third of the season. He would get a called strike out for the first out. Juan Francia then reached on an infield hit. Vince Blue grounded into a game ending double play.

The Cougars had four chances to score some runs and only capitalized once. In the first inning with one out Luis Perez walked. Dustin Majewski then singled to short. That ment runners on first and second with only one out. Vasili Spanos and Eddie Kim both struck out which ended the inning.

They would score in the third inning. With one out Brian Ingram doubled to center. One out later Majewski doubled to the gap in left to score Ingram. Spanos grounded out to third to end the inning. In the sixth the Cougars would have two more runners on base. With two outs, Kim and Trevor Brown both walked. Kory Wayment would then fly to left to end the inning.

In the ninth Brown led off with a single to right. One of the newest Cougars Dan Putnam then pitch hit for Wayment and singled up the middle. David Harriman then moved the runners along with a sacrifice bunt. With runners on second and third and only one out, Luke Appert came up and grounded out to the first baseman, no runs would score. Ingram then struck out which ended the inning.

Christhain Martinez started for the Whitecaps and pitch equaly as good as Bondurant. He went seven innings, only giving up one run on three hits. His main problem was four walks, he also struck out five.
