July 21st, 2004

Steve Bondurant moved into a third place tie for wins in a season for Cougars with Matt Anderson with 13, as the Cougars won again this time 10-2. He is only three away from breaking the record of 15 by Victor Hurtado.

Bondurant pitched very well, he went into the seventh inning giving up two hits and three walks. He struck out seven. The second inning was the only time that he had a runner in scoring position. He walked the leadoff man and one out later hit a King.

The offense took care of things for Bondurant. The would score ten runs on nine hits and three errors byt he Kings also helped. Vasili Spanos got on base four out of the five times he came to the plate.

With one out in the first inning, Luke Appert singled to left. David Castillo then walked. One out later Spanos singled to left to score both Appert and Castillo. Spanos would get ot second on the throw home, and to third after the ball got away from the catcher. Dan Putnam would walk. Dustin Majewski then lined out to left to end the inning.

Appert began the third inning with a triple to center. One out later Eddie Kim hit a liner to left, Appert would tag up and score. Two more runs in the sixth inning for the Cougars. With one out, Spanos walked. Putnam would reach on a fielder's choice, with Spanos being out at second. Majewski then hit a long fly to left center that left the premises.

In the seventh inning the Cougars scored one more this time off of a reliever, Gary Hogan came in to replace their starter Jesse Chavez. With one out, Appert walked, he would get to second on a passed ball. Castillo singled to center to score Appert.

Fireworks in the eighth as the Cougars would score four more runs off of the Kings mistakes. Spanos led off by being hit by a pitch. Putnam singled to right. Majewski would reach on an error by the second baseman, the bases were now loaded. Kory Wayment fouled off a pitch to the first base side and thankfully got new life when Josh Kruezer droped the ball. Wayment then singled to left to bring home Spanos, and keep the bases loaded. Chris Tritle was then hit by a pitch to force in Putnam. Ingram flew out to center, Majewski tagged up and scored. Appert would do the same and score Wayment. David Castillo walked, then was pitch run for by Nick Rogers. At the same time the Kings made a pitching change as Hogan ran out of gas, they brought in Chris Cordeiro. Cordeiro got Kim to ground out to end the inning.

Everything went wrong for the Cougars in the bottom of the eighth inning as they couldn't do much right. Justin Crowder had just come in for Manny Rodriguez. Micah Furtado doubled to center. Brenden Cashmen singled to third. Andrew Wishy would single to center. Furtado tried to score but on a throw from Majewski to Ingram to Trevor Brown they would get him. Brown blocked the plate and took the collison well. Kruezer then reached on an error by Appert, which would load the bases. Dane Bubela then was hit by a pitch to force in Cashmen. Kevin Richardson grounded one back to Crowder for the second out, but Wishy would score. Emerson Frostad struck out to end the inning.
