The Clinton Lumberkings took advantage of Cougars mental errors to take game two of the series 7-2. The Cougars have now droped two in a row, dont worry Cougar fans their still 30 games over the break even mark. Today the Cougars just beat themselves with their mistakes.

It took one big sloppy inning, thats all it took for the Cougars to loose this game. The fifth inning saw the Lumberkings score four times, on two hits. Plus the Cougars had two wild pitches and a passed ball which didnt help matters much.

Andrew Wishy led off the inning with a walk. Emerson Frostad then walked, a passed ball would move the runners along into scoring position. Larry Grayson singled to right to score Wishy. Cody Clark singled to left to score Frostad. Cougar starter Jared Trout then uncorked a wild pitch on the first pitch to Dane Bubela to allow both runners to get into scoring position. After one more pitch, which was a ball, Trout then threw another one over the catchers head. Grayson would score and Clark went into third. Bubela would walk on four pitches. Cougar manager Dave Joppie then got Manny Rodriguez into the game. Brandon Cashmen would reach on a fielder's choice. On the play Clark would score, and Bubela was out at second. Abigal Sandoval then would strike out for the second out. On the first pitch to Micah Furtado, Cashmen tried to steal second and Cougar catcher David Castillo gunned him out to end the inning.

The Kings scored three more runs in the game. In the fourth inning with one out, Sandoval singled to center. One out later, Justin Hatcher singled to right to score Sandoval. The sixth inning the Kings would also score. Furtado led off with a double to center. On the play it looked like centerfielder Dustin Majewski might've slipped and aggravated his ankle injury. Hatcher then singled to center to get Furtado to third. The Cougars then made a pitching change to bring in Justin Crowder. Wishy grounded out to second to allow Furtado to score. Corwder then got Frostad to ground out and Grayson to strike out to end the inning.

The eighth inning would be the last time the Kings would score. Sandoval led off with a walk. One out later Hatcher grounded to third, Sandoval would get to second on the play, and move to third on another wild pitch. Wishy walked, then the Cougars had a pow wow at the mound. The very firs tpitch to Frostad hit went into right field to score Sandoval. Grayson struck out to end the inning.

Jared Trout lasted into the fifth inning and just didnt look right. He gave up five hits and five earned runs. He walked three and struck out four. After retiring the side in order in the first inning, he gave up a leadoff single to Hatcher in the second. A double play would erase the runner. That was the only double play the Cougars turned in the game. Justin Crowder came in and pitch and inning and two thirds of perfect ball. He got three ground out to the right side. Manny Rodriguez who had started using a more three quarters to side arm delivery slot in recent weeks, looked like he was all over the place in his delivery. With his shoulder going out first, and pitching across his body.

The Cougars would get some offense in this game, just not much. In the first inning with one out, Luke Appert singled to center. David Castillo then doubled to the left field wall to get Appert to third. Eddie Kim then hit a fly to left that was just deep enough to get Appert home for what was the first run of the game. The only other time the Cougars would score was the seventh inning when Dan Putnam hit a solo homer to right field for his fifth of the year.

Besides that the Cougars would get a one out walk in the second inning. Two line outs would end the threat. The next time the Cougars would get a baserunner was in the seventh after the homer. With two outs, Chris Tritle singled to third, it was a bad hop. He would then be caught trying to steal second.

The Cougars best chance to score some runs came in the eighth inning. Brian Ingram led off with a double to center. Luke Appert then grounded out to short, Ingram could not advance to third. David Castillo then blooped one into short center, the second baseman Furtado made a nice play for the out. Eddie Kim then struck out to end the inning.

Eventhough the Cougars didnt get that much offense on the board today they hit a lot of balls really hard that just didnt drop. Of the 17 out made in the air 10 of those were liners. One was a sacrifice fly.On the other side every thing was falling for the Kings as they only left on four runners out of 15 total that got on base.

The Cougars made the roster move yesterday bringin in Dallas Braden and putting J.R. Pickens on the disabled list. Pickens is suffering from problems with migranes, and looked pretty bad in Appleton this past weekend. Braden is going into the rotation and will start tomorrow. Mike McGirr is going to the bullpen.
