Game 1

A three run homer by Kory Wayment in the top of the ninth would give the Cougars a two run lead. They would hold on for a one run win in game one of the double header.

With one out in the ninth Brian Snyder doubled down the right field line. Snyder was then pitch run for by Jesse Acosta. Dustin Majewski walked to make it first and second one out. The Yankees then made a pitching change to bring in Matt Brumit to replace Abel Gomez. Brumit got David Castillo to ground out to second for the second out, but the runners would move up a base and into scoring position. Wayment then hit a shot over the right center field fense to put the Cougars ahead.

The game only lasted three inning on Wednesday as a down pour halted the game after three innings, After three inning Yankee pitcher Tyler Clippard was perfect. Dallas Braden on the other hand had givin up one run in the third. Tommy Rojas had singled to center. Rafael Rodriguez followed with a run scoring double to left. Braden would get Erold Andrus to pop up to third. Dallas then struck out both Hector Made and Matt Carson which would end the inning.

Abel gomez pitched very well for the Yankees, he came on to replace Clippard in game one today. After giving up a leadoff double to Brian Ingram. He would strike out five of the next seven hitters. In all he struck out nine in just over five innings.

Brigmer Leon came on for the Cougars and did a nice job. Brigmer came on and gave up a leadoff double to Willie Vasquez. One out later Jon Urich would single to right to score Vasquez. After that Leon retired seven of the next eight hitters. In the seventh inning he gave up a one out homer to left by Rodriguez. Rodriguez had three hits on the day.

The first two runs the Cougars would score came in the eighth inning. Castillo led off with a double to left. Wayment singled to right. Nick Rogers then walked to load the bases with nobody out. Ingram would hit a fly to right. Castillo tagged up and scored, and Wayment went to third. Luke Appert would reach on a fielder's choice, with Rogers being out at second and Wayment scoring.
