What a crazy game this is, the Cougars were down 10-8 then scored four unanswered runs to beat South Bend 12-11. The bullpen shut them down from the fifth inning on. The offense took care of the rest, eventhough they were outhit 21-12.

The Cougars started off the scoring in the first inning. Brian Ingram led off with a walk. Nick Rogers then singled to center. Luke Appert walked to load the bases. Vasili Spanos singled to center which brough home both Ingram and Rogers. Eddie Kim grounded out to first, Appert and Spanos moved up a base. Kory Wayment then reached on a fielder's choice, on the play Appert would be out at the plate. Dan Putnam struck out.

South Bend cut the lead in half in the second,with a run of thier own. They also had a chance to answer the Cougars runs in the first. With one out, Jeff Cook singled to center. Alex Frazier then reached on a fielder's choice, with Cook being out at second. Frazier then stole second, and would get to third on an error by centerfielder Nick Rogers. The throw from catcher David Harriman went into center, and Rogers had trouble picking it up. Cougar starter Jared Trout then struck out Chris Carter to get out of trouble. In the second inning Alan Mottram led off by being hit by a pitch. Edgar Varela singled to right. Augie Murila grounded out to second, the runners advanced. Lino Garcia then hit a sacrifice fly to center to allow Mottram to score. Varela was caught off of second to end the inning.

The third inning was a long inning with seven runs scored total. The Cougars would score four of them. Luke Appert led off with a single to center. Spanos then singled to right. Kim singled to right to score Appert. Wayment reached on a fielder's choice, Spanos was out at third. Wayment moved up to second on a wild pitch. Dan Putnam then took a pitch over the rightfield wall. David Harriman then followed with a homer to left. Jesse Acosta walked. Brian Ingram grounded out to second.

In the bottom of the inning the Hawks scored three runs. Emilo Bonafacio singled to center. Tila Reynolds singled to third. Cook singled back to the pitch to load the bases with nobody out. Frazier singled to left to score Bonafacio and Reyolds. Carter grounded into a double play, with Frazier out at second, and Cook getting to third. Mottram singled to center to score Cook. Edgar Varela then flew out to left.

With the score now 6-4 after three innings the Cougars would score another run in the fourth. Rogers led off with a walk. Appert thenfollowed with another walk. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Spanos hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Rogers.

The floor seemed to fall in on the Cougars in the bottom of the inning as the Hawks scored seven runs. Mriila led off with a single to short, he then stole second base. One out later, Bonafacio tripled to center to score Murila. Reynolds then singled to right to score Bonafacio. The Cougars then brought the hook for Trout, replacing him with Dan Fyvie. Fyvie would make an errant pickoff attempt at first to allow Reynolds to get to third. Cook then singled to left to score Reynolds. Frazier singled to left. Carter singled to right to score Cook, he would get to second on an error by Wayment. Mottram was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Varela singled to right to score Frazier and Carter. Varela was out on a rundown, after the Cougars threw behind the runner at first. Murila then singled to third, Mottram scored.

Down 11-7 after five innings it didnt look to good. The Cougars just kept chipping away at the Hawks. In the fifth they would score one run. With one out Harriman singled to right. One out later Ingram singled to left to score Harriman. In the sixth it was two runs. Appert led off by being hit bya pitch. Spanos followed by being hit. Two outs later. Putnam singled to center to score Appert. Spanos would score on a passed ball. In the seventh it was two more runs for the Cougars. With two outs, Appert walked. Spanos was again hit by a pitch. Believe it or not Eddie Kim triple to right to score Appert and Spanos.

The Cougars couldve added another run in the ninth. Appert led off by reaching on an error by the left fielder, he got to second on the play. A balk would get him to third. Spanos poped up to second. Kim flew out to left. Wayment then grounded out to short, stranding a man on third.

The bullpen did ok, they didnt give up any runs but they didnt make things easy. In the sixth inning Carter led off with a double to center. Mottram grounded out to second, Carter moved to third. Varela flew out to left Carter tried to tag and score, but would be thrown out by Dan Putnam to end the inning.

In the seventh Murrila singled to left to led things off. Garcia bunted him to second. The Cougars then made a pitching change, bringin in Justin Crowder to replace Brigmer Leon. Leon got Bonafacio to fly to center, then walked Reynolds. With runners on the corners and two outs. The Hawks pitch hit for Cook with Jon Caplan. The Cougars counterd with Jason Windsor. Caplan poped out to third to end the inning. In the eighth with one out Carter singled to center, a fielders choice and a ground out would get them out of trouble. In the ninth. Murilla led off with a bunt single, then was caught trying to steal second. One out later Bonafacio singled to right, then stole second. Reynolds grounded out to second to end the game.
