Voice Of A Season Ticket Holder-Kane County Cougars
by David Malamut

Why does this team have to leave things for the last two innings every night?, are they doing this too us intentionally or something? This is getting ridiculous. The Cougars and the Kernels were tied at one going into the ninth, after the ninth the game was over in the favor of the Kernels, 3-2. The homerun ball would decide the outcome of the game. Two homers by the Kernels and a homer by the Cougars.

The Kernels hit two solo shots int he ninth off of Dan Fyvie to get the win. The inning started off with Howard Kendrick grounding out to short. Sean Rodriguez then hit a ball that just went over the fense in left center that would put the Kernels up by one run. Brandon Wood then grounded out ot third for the second out. Blake Balcom then hit a shot to right center to put the Kernels up by two runs.

In the bottom of the ninth the Cougars had David Harriman hit a bomb over the scoreboard in left center to bring them within one run. Chris Tritle then struck out looking. David Castillo pitch hit for Kory Wayment and grounded out to third. Luis Perez walked. Brian Ingram would ground out to first to end the game.

Perez lead off the bottom of the eighth inning with a single to right. Ingram bunted him over t second. Luke Appert flew to deep center, on the play Perez would tag and get to third. Brian Snyder was intentionally walked. Eddie Kim then came up with a chance to win the game again. He would walk to load the bases. Dustin Majewski grounded out to second to end the inning.

In the third inning the Cougars had a chance to score with one out. Ingram and Appert both walked. Snyder then hit into a double play to end the inning. The Cougars did score in the fifth inning. With two outs Luis Perez hit a liner to right. The right fielder dove for the ball and missed it, the ball rolled to the wall and Perez would make third on the play. Ingram singled to center to drive home Perez.

The Kernels would tie the game int he seventh. Sean Rodriguez singled to left, then stole second. Brandon Wood lined to left. Matt Pali lined to center for the second out. Blake Balkcom singled up the middle to score Rodriguez.

Jose Corchado started for the Cougars and pitched very well. This was his first start of the season and he last into the seventh with a low pitch count. He gave up five hits and one run. He walked one and struck out seven. Jose threw 78 pitches. He realy never had any trouble untill the seventh when he gave up his lone run. He was able to get two double plays which also helped.
