Edwin Encarnacion went 3 for 4 with four runs batted in as the Dayton Dragons won their fourth straight game with a 8-3 win over the West Michigan WhiteCaps on Wednesday.
Dayton took the lead for good at 3-2 as Encarnacion drew a walk with the bases loaded in the third inning. He added a two run single as part of a four run seventh inning to blow the game open.
Jesse Gutierrez belted a two run homer to give the Dragons a 2-0 first inning lead. Gutierrez, who hit his third home run of the season, went 2 for 4 with three RBIs.
The WhiteCaps tied the game in the second as Juan Tejeda tripled and scored on Jason Knoedler's single. Knoedler scored on a throwing error by Dayton starting pitcher Andy Boutwell. The Dragons' Juan Frias, (2-2), pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. WhiteCaps starter Kevin McDowell allowed five runs in six innings to take the loss and fall to 0-2.
