Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Kane County Cougars

What a game!, the two teams combined to score 21 runs on 30 hits, and committ six errors in nine innings. It wasnt a good game to watch but it sure was entertaining. The Cougars would loose 12 to 9. It would be Chris Dunwell's first loss in a Cougars uniform.

The offensive barrage started in the first inning when both teams would score a run. In the top of the inning, wiht one out Adam Jones singled to right. Evel Bastida then put down a sacrifice bunt to move Jones to second. Chris Collins reached on an over throw by the catcher David Harriman to first. On the play Jones would score. In the bottom of the inning, Brian Ingram led things off with a double to left. Luis Perez flied out to left, on the play Ingram tagged up and moved to third. David Castillo grounded out to short, Ingram would score on the play.

The Rattlers took the lead in the second with two runs. With one out Michael Cox singled to left. One out later George Sandel singled to left. Josh Ellison would then also single to left to bring home Cox. Jones grounded one to first baseman Eddie Kim. Kim threw the ball into the dugout, on the error Sandel would score, Ellison went to third and Jones went to second. Bastida grounded out to third to end the inning without further damage.

Kane County got within one run in the third inning. Ingram lead it off with a walk. Perez would reach on a bobble by third baseman Cox. Castillo then grounded into a double play, with Perez being out at second. Kim grounded one to second, somehow he would beat the throw to first for an infield single. Ingram would score on the play. Brian Snyder then doubled off the left field wall, Kim would only make it to third. Dustin Majewski grounded out to second to end the inning.

Things would get wild in the fourth inning, as both teams would score a total of ten runs. In the top of the inning with one out Josh Womack singled to right. Sandel then singled to left. Ellison would single to right to score Womack. Jones hit a triple into the right field corner to score Sandel and Ellison. The Cougars then made a pitching change brining in Daniel Fyvie to replace Dunwell. Bastida greated him with a dribble back to him that took a bad bounce and would go for an error. On the play Jones would score. Chris Collins doubled to left to score Basitda. Brent Metheny would get caught looking for the second out. Chris Colton blooped one to right that would score Collins. Michael Cox then singled to left. Finally Womack fouled out to the third baseman to end the inning.

The Cougars would score four times in the bottom of the inningto make it a 9-6 game. With one out Kory Wayment doubled to left. Nick Rogers walked. Ingram would then single to center to score Wayment. Perez doubled over the head of the left fielder to score Rogers. Castillo would ground out to short, on the play Ingram would score. Kim lined one off the pitcher that rolled toward first. The pitcher Eric O'Flaherty got the ball and then threw it into the dugout. On theplay Perez scored and Kim went to second. A wild pitch would move Kim to third. Snyder lined to second to end the inning.

The two teams would then take the next inning off from scoring, then in the sixth the Rattlers put one more on the board. Collins led off with a double to left. Metheny moved him to third with a ground out. Colton singled to right to score Collins. In the bottom of the inning the Cougars scored three runs to pull within a run of the Rattlers at 10-9. Nick Rogers singled to left. One out later Perez would reach on a fielder's choice, with Rogers being out at second. Castillo singled to right. Kim would then walk to load the bases. Snyder then walked to bring home Perez. Majewski would line one downt he right field line, the right fielder Womack fell down as he let the ball get past him, the ball then hit the wall. Castillo and Kim would score, and Snyder went to third. The Rattlers then made a pitching change. Juan Ovalles came in for Bryan Heaston. Harriman would then get caught napping to end the inning.

The Cougars really only had one more chance to score some runs, that was in the eighth inning. Luke Appert lead off with a walk, after pitch hitting for Perez. Castillo grounded out to second, Appert moved to second. Kim would line another one off the pitch, this one for an infield single. Snyder walked to load the bases. The Rattlers then made another pitching change, this time bringin in Brian Stitt to replace Ovalles. Majewski would line into a double play to end the inning.

Stitt would be very impressive, as he got out of the base loaded jam in the eighth with a double play. In the ninth he struck out Harriman, Wayment looking and Rogers to end the game.

Wisconsin wasnt done scoring, they would get single runs in the seventh and eight. In the seventh Jones hit a solo homer to left center. In the eighth with two outs, Colton singled to center. The Cougars then brough in Briger Leon to replace Mike McGirr who was making his first Cougars appearance. Cox greated Leon with a double off the left field wall t score Colton.

Notes-The Cougars made a couple of roster moves today. Jose Corchado was placed on the 15 day disabled list with a strained rotar cuff. Adiel Sanchez was sent back to extended spring. Trent Peterson and Michael McGirr were sent here from extended spring.
