Burlington Hawk Eye
Colt Griffin picked up his second victory since joining the Burlington Bees, pitching 6 2/3 shutout innings in the Bees 7-3 defeat of Clinton at Alliant Energy Field Wednesday.
Burlington moved to within a game of .500 at 25-26. It is the first time the Bees have flirted with the mark since April 12 when the team was 4-5. The loss on that day began a season high four game losing streak that send the Bees to the basement of the Midwest League's Western Division.
Clinton falls to 25-25 just a half game ahead of Burlington.
The Bees benefitted from a pair of his each from Chris Fallon and Odannys Ayala, Ben Cordova and Galinda Gomez. John Draper went 3 for 4, a season high for the catcher. Gomez and Draper each drove in two runs.
The loss was the seventh straight for the LumberKings starter Ignacio Puello (1-8). Puello's lone win came at Community Field April 19.,br>
