Rex Rundgren came through with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth inning to get the Cougars the victory over the Wizards for the second straight day.

The Cougars offense was clicking on all cylinders today as they punded out 12 hits and four runs. They left 11 men on base. George Arnott led the way with three hits. Two of Arnott's hits were doubles, plus he scored the winning run. William Arroyo had two hits, and one run scored. Anthony Brewer also contribuated two hits and drove home a run.

Dontrelle Willis started for the Cougars and did not pitch all that badly. He went eight inning but gave up seven hits, and three runs. Of those three runs only two were earned. Dontrelle walked one and struck out six.

In the first inning Willis did a nice job of getting out of trouble. Pedro De Los Santos lead things off with a infield single. Josh Barfield then reached on a fielder's choice, with Santos being out at second. Jon Benick would reach on an error by third baseman Michael Tucker. On the play the ball just went under his glove. Barfield would only get to second on the play. Greg Sain then grounded one to third, and Tucker threw to second baseman Hunter Wyant for the out on Benick. The relay throw to first was a tad late. Willis then would get Joe Hastings to fly to right to end the inning.

Dontrelle's luck would run out in the second when he did give up a run. Nick Trzesniak doubled to center. With John DiBetta up to bat, Willis threw a pitch behind him and to the screen for a wild pitch. On the play Trzesniak would get to third. Josh Carter then grounded out to short, on the play Trzesniak would score from third to give the Wizards the 1-0 lead.

In the fourth inning Willis also would get out of trouble. Greg Sain led off the inning with a single to left. Willis would then throw consecitive wild pitches to get Sain to third. Joe Hastings and Nick Trzesniak both struck out for the first two outs of the inning. John DiBetta then lined out left to strand Sain at third.

Justin Germano started for the Wizards and pitched well to start with. He retired the first six he faced in order before William Arroyo lead off the third with a single back up the middle.

Germano would be tough, in the third inning with Arroyo on first after his single. Rex Rundgren then struck out. Anthony Brewer singled to center. Charles Frazier then grounded one to third. The Wizards turned the force at second, and then some how got the out at first. Frazier was safe at first, but oh well, Germano got out of the inning with out any trouble.

The Cougars would finally get through against Germano in the fifth when with one out William Arroyo singled to center. Rex Rundgren then singled to right. Anthony Brewer would single to left to score Arroyo. Charles Frazier doubled to left to score Rundgren. Germano would get out of the inning without any more trouble by getting Hunter Wyant to hit a pop up foul to the first baseman. Then Scott Hicks would ground out to second.

The only thing that kept the Cougars from scoring in the sixth was a good throw from the outfield. George Arnott had led off with a double to left off of Germano. Dennis Anderson then doubled to right. The rightfielder Josh Carter threw in to the second baseman Josh Barfield who fired home to catcher Nick Trzesniak and they got Arnott at the plate. Even with that happening the Cougars still could've put something up on the board for the inning. Micharl Tucker then hit a liner to center. The centerfielder De Los Santos ran it down. Anderson at second had taken off with the ball, and was headed towards third, he should've tagged up at second to get to third, but oh well. He got back in time to second. William Arroyo then was intentionally walked to put a force at any base. The Wizards then made a pitching change. Anthony Kozol came in and got Rex Rundgren to hit the ball to short for the force at second. The Wizards excaped again.

The Wizards then took the momentum from getting out of the previous jam into the next inning and translated that into a run to tie the game. With two outs, Greg Sain walked. Joe Hastings then hit a double to right to score Sain.

Fort Wayne keep up the pressure on the Cougars in the seventh by scoring again. John DiBetta put down an absoultly perfect bunt down the third base line, that just would not roll foul. Josh Carter then reached on a fielder's choice, on the play DiBetta would be out at second. Jackson Aquino then struck out. Pedro De Los Santos singled to center to score Carter.

The Cougars would tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Charles Frazier reached on an error by shortstop Jackson Aquina. On the play Aquino just plain old dropped an easy infield pop up. Hunter Wyant then made them pay with a triple to center to score Frazier.

The game would stay tied at three untill the bottom of the tenth. With one out George Arnott came up and singled to center. Dennis Anderson then grounded out to first, on the play Arnott would move to second. Michael Tucker walked. Cougars manager Steve Phillips then pitch hit for William Arroyo with the one of the minors best hitters in Jason Stokes, who was on the bench for the third straight night with soreness in his left wrist. The Wizards immediatly, intentionally walked him to load the bases. Rex Rundgren then came up and singled right up the middle to score Arnott to win the game.

In the ninth and tenth Wes McCrotty came in and pitched shutout ball. He struck out three.
