West Michigan White Caps at Kane County Cougars

The Cougars scored six runs in the second inning, then just kept on scoring more runs. They would eventually win by six over the West Michigan Whitecaps to sweep the series.

Actually the Whitecaps would put a four spot up in the top of the second inning. Kelly Hunt led off with a single to left. Two outs later, Eric Rodland walked. Followed by Nate Doyle who also walked, this would load the bases. Kurt Piantek then took the fourth pitch he saw over the scoreboard in left center for a grand slam.

The Cougars would counter that four run inning with six runs of their own. With one out Brian Snyder walked. Dustin Majewski then singled to right. Luis Perez would reach on a fielder's choice, with Majewski being out at second. Chris Tritle walked, which loaded the bases. Jesse Acosta would follow with a six pitch walk, to bring in Snyder. Brian Ingram followed with a five pitch walk, to force in Perez. Luke Appert doubled down the line in right to bring homer both Tritle and Acosta. David Castillo then singled to left to score Ingram. Vasili Spanos singled to left to score Appert.

In the third inning the Cougars would tack another run up. Majewski led off with a walk. Luis Perez then singled to right. Tritle would ground into a double play, with Perez being out at second and Majewski getting to third. Acosta would reach on a error byt he third baseman. On the play Majewski scored.

Three more runs for the Cougars in the fourth. Appert led off with a walk. Castillo would follow with a double to left to get Appert to third. One out later Brian Snyder would take the second pitch he saw deep to right for a three run homer.

Nate Doyle led off the fifth inning for the Caps with a double to center. Piantek then singled to left to score Doyle. That would make the score ten to five. The Cougars added another run in the bottom of the inning. Tritle led off with a walk. One out later Ingram singled to center. Appert singled to left to bring homer Tritle.

Snyder and Majewski both walked to start off the sixth inning for the Cougars. One out later Tritle would walk, which again loaded the bases. Acosta would walk on eight pitches to force in Snyder.

West Michigan scored one run in the seventh inning to finish off the scoring. Doyle walked to lead things off. Piantek would ground back to the pitcher for the first out, on the play Doyle went to second. Blue then singled to center to score Doyle.
