Kane County Cougars at Beloit Snappers

June 25th, 2004

Are we doing this again where once day we leave a ton of men on base and the very next day we score twelve runs on twelve hits. We hit four homers, with Kory Wayment hitting two of them?

Yeah you heard me right Wayment hit two homers, a two run homer in the second and in the third he hit a grand slam. The game was eight to one after three innings. Oh well I bet the Turtle Soup tasted great after the game.

Brad Knox pitched well, in six innings of work. He gave up five hits, nobody got past second base besides a first inning one out solo homer by Will Lewis. That was the only run the Cougars would give up in the game.

The scoring started in the first inning for the Cougars. With two outs, David Castillo singled to short, and moved up on a wild pitch. Vasili Spanos then hit a two run homer. In the second they would score two more runs. With one out, Trevor Brown singled to right. Kory Wayment then hit a two run homer.

Four runs in the third would help to put the game out of reach for the Cougars early. Castillo singled to left. Spanos then singled to center. Two outs later, Trevor Brown walked to load the bases. Wayment then took a pitch a long ways for a grand slam.

The scoring just wouldn't stop there, hopefully they have some runs left for tomorrow against these Snappers. In the fourth, Nick Rogers led off with a walk, and then stole second. One out later, Castillo double home Rogers for another run. An error in the seventh would let Spanos reach as the leadoff hitter for the Cougars. One out later, Dustin Majewski then singled back to the pitcher. Brown then walked to load the bases again. Wayment this time would hit a sacrifice fly to right to allow Spanos to score. Luke Appert would foul out to the catcher to end the inning.

The final two runs for the Cougars came in the ninth inning. Eddie Kim pitch hit for Spanos a led off with a walk. Brian Snyder then hit a two run homer.

J.R. Pickens pitched two innings of one hit ball with two strikeouts. Jose Corchado continued to do a good job since being moved to the pen, he went one shutout inning.
