Kane County Cougars at Beloit Snappers

June 27th, 2004

Four homers accounting for eight of the twelve runs the Cougars scored really helped. The Snappers would score eight runs of their own. Both teams combined for 20 runs and 25 hits. Four of the eight walks scored.

Brian Snyder hit two homers, Vasili Spanos hit a two run homer. Dustin Majewski also hit a grand slam. For the Snappers Vinny Rottino hit a three run homer.

Neither teams pitchers really did much. They both struggled, neither starter went more than four and one thirds inning.

Brian Ingram led off the game with a single to right. Luke Appert then grounded out to second, Ingram moved to second on the play. David Castillo walked. Vasili Spanos singled to center, to score Ingram. Brian Snyder would then hit into a double play to end the inning.

The Cougars broke out with a five run inning in the third. With one out Appert singled to center. Castillo would then single. Spanos also singled which loaded the bases. Snyder would walk, to allow Appert to score. Majewski hit a grand slam to make it a six run led.

Beloit made a game of it when the scored three runs in the fourth. With two outs Lou Palmasiano walked, Adam Heether then walked also. Vinny Rottino hit a three run homer to cut the Cougars lead in half.

The good thing is that the Cougars would score three more runs in the top of the fifth. Castillo led off with a single to center. Spanos would then hit a two run homer. Snyder singled to center, and would get to third on an error by the center fielder. Majewski would then hit a fly to right, on the play Snyder tagged up and would score.

Nick Rogers led off the sixth with a walk, and would get to second on an errant pickoff attempt. One out later Luke Appert singled to center, on the play Rogers would score. Castillo then walked. Runners on first and second with one out. Spanos then grounded into an inning ending double play.

Brian Snyder led off the seventh inning with a homer to make it a five run game.

In the bottom of the inning the Snappers would get the one run back. With one out in the seventh, Terry Trofholz singled to left, then stole second. Steve Moss tripled to left to score Trofholz to make it a eleven to seven game. After the triple, Brigmer Leon struck out both Palmasiano and Heether to end the inning.

Brian Snyder then did it again this time with a one out homer in the ninth, This would be his second of the game.

Trofholz led off the ninth for the Snappers with a triple to right. Steve Moss would double to left to score Trofholz. Palmasiano then lined out to second for the first out. Heether would strike out. Vinny Rottino then grounded out to short to end the game.
