Notes-Game ended on August 17th, 1989 in Clinton
Holds record for longest game in Midwest League history

Waterloo nearly lost 3-1 in regulation, but a two-run home run in the ninth inning by Tim Holland extended the game. Waterloo nearly won 4-3 in 15 innings, but an apparent game-winning single was wiped away when Mark Gieske failed to run from second base to third. The play ended in a fielder’s choice and kept the game alive, similar to “Nessy’s Negligence” or “Merkle’s Boner.” Tucker batted in one of Clinton’s best extra-inning opportunities in the top of the 19th and lifted a bloop to right-center field that was caught by Waterloo’s Opie Cunningham, starting a triple play.

Game ended in the 19th at 1:00am. Following 5h46m of ball.

Thank you to Chris Kleinhans-Schulz of the Bowling Green Hot Rods for a lot of this info.
