Fort Wayne at Kane County

Two runs in the second inning would hold up for the Cougars as they won again. This is the fifth time this year they have beaten the Wizards. The Cougars now have the best record in all of proffesional baseball.

Eddie Kim led off the second inning with a single to center. Vasili Spanos then bounced one over the pitchers head for a base hit. One out later Trevor Brown singled to center to score Kim. Dan Putnam would then hit a fly to left, ont he play Spanos tagged up and scored.

Trent Peterson would make that hold up for the Cougars. Trent went eight inning, giving up seven hits.He walked two and struck out seven. In the fourth inning he had to pitch out of a bases loaded jam. With two outs, Jordan Pickens walked. Fernando Valenzuela Jr. then singled to left. George Kottaras then followed that with a walk. Peterson would then get Brett Bonvechio to fly to center on the sixth pitch of the at bat to end the inning.

The fifth inning would see some fireworks. With one out, Peter Ciofrone hit a ground rule double to right center. One out later, Brian Wahlbrink singled to left. Cifrone came around third and crashed into catcher David Castillo. Castillo couldnt hang on to the ball and it looked like Ciofrone would be safe. Ciofrone crashed into the glove arm basically of Castillo knocking the ball loose. Wahlbrink went to second on the throw. The Cougars would then pull the old appeal play at third, and Ciofrone would be called out to end the inning and nullify the run.

Peterson retired the final five he faced, and really pitched the best he has pitched this season for the Cougars. He was able to wiggle out of jams with out getting hurt. In the first inning with one out and a man on first, he got the double play to end the inning. In the second inning Valenzuela led off with a single to center. Peterson then got Kottaras to ground to second for the double play. He then got Bonvechio to strike out to end the inning. In the sixth he didnt need a double play as a leadoff single by Drew Macias would be erased after a pick off at first.

Dan Fyvie came in and got his fourth save of the season. He pitched the ninth, and gave up a single. The Cougars really couldnt get much together offensivley as they again had their chances to break the game open.

The Wizards ran out Sean Thompson to start, he lasted six innings. In the second the Cougars scored the two runs, In the third they would have Kory Wayment at first with one out, he would get picked off. In the fourth inning it would be a double play and a strike out to end the inning. The sixth inning Brian Ingram led off with a walk. Wayment then reaches on a error by the short stop, Skip Adams. On the play he tried to go to second to get the force on Ingram and would throw the ball into right field. Ingram went to third. David Castillo then struck out for the first out. Eddie Kim would be called out on three pitches for the second out. On the second pitch to Vasili Spanos he would line out to center to end the inning.

In the seventh inning the Cougars would again leave runners on base. Dustin Majewski led off with a single to right, he would get to second on a wild pitch. Trevor Brown struck out. Putnam would then fly to center. Majewski tagged up and went to third. Luke Appert got a four pitch walk, to put runners on the corner with two outs. Ingram then grounded to short to end the inning.

The Cougars could've made it a more comfortable led going into the ninth. With one out Castillo singled to center. Kim then was called out on strikes. Spanos would then strike out to end the inning.
