The Cougars would score early and often in the game today, they scored eleven runs on eleven hits. In beating the Kernels 11-6. Trent Peterson pitched a good game.

Peterson went six innings of three hit ball. He walked one and struck out seven. He struck out the side in the third inning, and really wasnt in any trouble all day.

J.R. Pickens had a really bad day, he went one and two thirds innings, giving up six earned runs on four hits.Huston Street came in an got the final four outs without and problems.

The Cougars bats heated up from the begining. In the first inning with one out, Luke Appert would reach on an error by the shortstop. David Castillo then walked, followed by a Eddie Kim walk to load the bases. Vasil Spanos then doubled to left to score both Appert and Castillo. Dan Putnam walked to put runners on first and second with the one out. Luis Perez then grounded into an inning ending double play.

The fun continued in the second inning when the Cougars would score another run. Dustin Majewski led off with a walk. Kory Wayment grounded to first, moving Majewski to second. Majewski would then steal third. Brian Ingram struck out for the second out. Appert singled to right to score Majewski to give the Cougars a three run lead.

Another run for the Cougars in the fourth inning. With one out Wayment singled to center. Ingram walked. Appert would then single to right to load the bases. Castillo would walk, forcing in Wayment. Eddie Kim then struck out looking for the second out. Spanos would pop out to end the inning.

Six runs in the fifth inning basically sealed the win for the Cougars. Putnam was hit by a pitch to lead things off. Perez singled to center. Majewski would then walk to load the bases. A wild pitch brought Putnam home and moved every one else up a base. Wayment then walked to reload the bases. Ingram singled to center to score Perez. The centerfielder I guess lost the ball in the lights/sun because he shouldve caught the ball easily but couldnt find it. Appert would bloop one up the middle to score Majewski. Castillo lined one just fair down the left field line to score both Wayment and Appert. The Kernels would then make a pitching change, taking out Jesse Smith, bringin in David Austen. Kim would then reach on another error by the short stop. On the play it shouldve been a double play but the throw went into the dugout. Appert and Castillo would score. Spanos was then hit by a pitch. Putnam and Perez would strikeout, which would end the inning.

The seventh inning was a disaster for the Cougars. Thankfully they were already leading bigtime at this point. Pickens had just come into the game to start the inning in relief of Peterson. Bobby Wilson led off with a single to center. Matt Brown was hit by a pitch. Baltazar Lopez then walked to load the bases. Michael Collins would walk, which would force in Wilson to break the shutout. Matt Pali reached on a fielder's choice, with Collins being out at second, Brown would score on the play. Pickens was able to get Billy Boyer to ground into an inning ending double play.

Kane County scored thier eleventh run in the seventh inning. Appert led off with a double to left, then stole second. Castillo was then struck out looking. Kim grounded out to short, Appert would score. Spanos singled to center, a wild pitch moved Spanos to second. Putman and Perez both walked. The bases loaded, the Kernels then made a pitching change. Bob Zimmerman replaced Austen. Majewski flied to left to end the inning.

Pickens got the first two outs in the eighth but couldnt get the third before four runs would score. With two outs, Brandon Wood walked. Wilson then homerd off the scoreboard in left center. Matt Brown singled to left. Lopez would then homer to center. Huston Street came on and struck out Collins to end the inning.
