The Cougars just did not have it tonight as they would loose in the bottom of the ninth to the Burlington Bees 6-5. Dan Putnam hit a game tying homer in the eighth inning.

Chris Dunwell started and didnt have much tonight, especially in the first inning as he got shelled. He gave up three runs, and the Cougars made an error behind him.

Brett Groves led off with a walk. Brandon Powell then followed with a single to right. Chris Lubanski would then single to right to score Groves with the games first run. Kenard Springer would hit a liner that just went off of second baseman Luke Appert's glove and would allow Powell to score. Kila Kaaihue then grounded one to first. Trevor Brown had the ball go through his legs for an error. Lubanski would score. Dunwell did a nice job of getting out of the inning, as he struck out Luis Gonzalez, Walter Sevilla and Brian Graham.

The Cougars would start to put some hits together in the third inning. Dustin Majewski broke up the no hitter with a double to center, he then stole third. Kory Wayment would ground out to first, Majewski scored to break up the shutout.

With one out in the fourth Luke Appert walked. Eddie Kim would then double to center to score Appert. David Castillo drew a walk, to put runners on first and second with only one out. Dan Putnam would ground out, and Brown lined to center to end the inning.

Brian Graham hit a leadoff homer to right field in the fourth inning. Jeff Barry then singled to right. One out later, Powell grounded to Appert at second. The ball went through his legs for another error. Barry would score.Lubanski reached on a fielder's choice, Powell was out at second. Springer would then fly to center to end the inning.

Kane County squanderd a opportunity in the fifth inning. With one out Wayment walked. Ingram then reached on a fielder's choice, with Wayment out at second. Rogers singled to right to get Ingram to third with two outs. Appert would then line to right to end the inning.

With the score at 5-3 Burlington the Cougars would tie the game in the eighth inning. Rogers led off with a single to left. Appert walked. Two outs later, Putnam nailed one to left field for a three run homer.

Huston Street came on for the eighth inning and was in trouble the whole time. Graham led off by reaching on a throwing error by Street. Streets throw to first was high and got away from Brown. Barry then got the bunt down to move Graham to second. Groves was intentionally walked. Powell also walked to load the bases with only one out. Lubanski would then strike out for the second out. Springer hit into an inning ending double play.

Huston got out of the eighth without letting a run in but wouldnt get out of the ninth. With one out Gonzalez singled to right. Sevilla followed that up with a single to left. Mike Gaffney then pitch ran for Gonzalez at second. One out later, Barry would hit the tenth pitch of the at bat up the middle to score Gaffney to win the game.
