The offense couldnt put anything together and the pitching didnt help much as the Cougars lost again to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, this time 5-2.

Mike McGirr had a better outing this time than last time, but not much better. He lasted five innings, giving up nine hits and four runs. He just didnt look that comfortable out there.

The T-Rats hit him early, with two runs in the first inning. Josh Womack reached on a bunt single to second to lead things off, then he stole second. Nick Orlandos would strike out. Adam Jones then hit the fifth pitch he saw over the left center field fense for his tenth homer of the season.

It would only get worse for McGirr. He gave up another run in the second inning. With one out Michael Cox singled to short. Jeremy Dutton then singled to center, both runners would move up on an error by centerfielder Dustin Majewski. Michael Nesbit then singled to center to drive home Cox. Womack bunted Nesbit over to second. McGirr would then get Orlandos to pop up foul to first to end the inning.

In the third inning the Rattlers wouldnt score but they would come close again. Jones led off with a single to left, then stole second. Bryan LaHair would line out to left. Chris Collins struck out. Chris Colton then would grounded out to short. Somehow McGirr got out of the inning without any runs.

He would have the same result in the fourth inning but this time the Rattlers stranded a runner on third. With two outs, Nesbit doubled to center, Majewski fell down trying to make the catch, no error. A wild pitch would then move him over to third. Womack popped out to second to end the inning.

Nick Orlandos led off the fifth inning with a double to center. Two outs later, and Orlandos at third by two ground outs. Collins then singled to left to score Orlandos.

The Cougars would score a run in the second inning and have their best chance of the game in the third. In the second with two outs, Dan Putnam walked, followed by Kory Wayment walking. Majewski then singled to center to score Putnam. Jesse Acosta would strike out to end the inning.

In the third inning we should've scored at least one run maybe two. With one out Nick Rogers singled to left. Luke Appert then doubled down the right field line, Rogers would get to third. Eddie Kim hit a ball far enough into center to score Rogers, but Rogers triped as he was trying to start running and couldnt score. David Castillo then grounded out to third to end the inning.

Meanwhile the Rattlers would score another run in the sixth and have two more opportunities in the seventh and the eighth innings.

In the sixth inning with one out Dutton doubled to center. Nesbit singled to left to score Dutton. The left fielder Putnam had the ball get by him and roll near the wall. Nesbit tried to get to third and would be out.

The seventh inning was led off by Orlandos single to center, he would be caught trying to steal second. Jones then singled to center, and would move up to second on a wild pitch. LaHair then grounded out to third, moving Jones to third. Collins would then line out to center to end the inning.

A little wildness helped the Cougars score a run in the ninth inning. Putnam led off with a walk, then would move to third on two wild pitches. The Rattlers then made a pitching change. Wayment struck out for the first out. Majewski would then single to center to score Putnam.

Colton led off the ninth for the Rattlers by reaching on an error by shortstop Brian Ingram. One out later, Dutton walked. With men on first and second and one out, Jose Corchado struck out Nesbit. Corchado then got Womack to ground out to end the inning.

Justin Crowder and Jose Corchado did well out of the bullpen.Dustin Majewski had two run scoring singles to center.
