The Burlington Bees (41-27 overall, 19-24 second half) scored four runs in the second inning and five more in the fifth inning, then held on to beat the Peoria Cheifs (58-54, 21-22) 9-8 in a Class A Midwest League baseball game Sunday afternoon at O'Brien Field.

The Bees scored all four of their runs in the second inning after two were out. Mike Gaffney singled in one run, Bryan Graham cracked a two run double and Jeff Barry singled home another run.

The Bees added five more runs in the fifth. Gonzalez had a run scoring single, Gaffney drove in two more with a double. Another run scored on an error before Gaffney closed the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

Peoria rallied with five runs of it's own in the bottom of the inning. Daric Barton opened the inning with a double and scored on Joe Mather's two run home run. Jarrett Hoffpauir followed with a double and singles by Omar Pena and Marcos Rodriguez pulled the Chiefs within 9-5.

After a wild pitch, John-Paul Davis lofted a sacrifice fly to score another run and knocked Bees starter Robbie McClellan from the game.

Matt Pagnozzi worked reliever Alexis Encarnacion for a walk before Anthony Monegan singled to drive in Rodriguez and pull the Chiefs within 9-7.

The Chiefs still lead the series 3-1 and the season series 6-2. The win was just the third for the Bees in 20 games at O'Brien Field.

The series continues at 7 pm today at Community Field. Greg Atencio (7-11) will start for the Bees against Stuart Pomeranz (7-3)
