Kane County Cougars at Battle Creek Yankees

Game 2

It looked like Brad Knox was finally going to win game number fourteen on the season, but the bullpen just couldn't hold the lead. Knox pitched five inning, giving up three runs and walking three.

The Yankees did have their chances against him though. With one out in the first, Hector Made singled down the left field line. Made would get to second on an errant pickoff attempt by Knox. Erold Andrus doubled to left, Made went to third. Knox then was able to get Matt Carson to strike out looking, and Jon Urich to ground one back to him to get out of the inning.

In the second inning, Bryce Kartler led off with a bunt single. One out later Willie Vasquez walked. Knox was then able to get Luis Robles to hit into an inning ending double play. The last time he was in trouble was the fifth inning. Enriquez Cruz led off with a walk. Vasquez grounded to third, Cruz moved to second. Robles grounded to first, Cruz moved to third. Nick Walsh would walk. Placing men ont he corners with two outs. Made flew out to right to end the inning.

Justin Crowder came in for the sixth inning. With one out Carson singled to left. One out later Kartler hit a homer down the right field line to put the Yankees ahead.

The only run for the Cougars came on a two out solo homer by Dustin Majewski in the second inning. The Cougars only had three hits on the day.

In the fourth inning Dan Putnam led off with a walk. Eddie Kim would then be caught looking. Brian Snyder hit into an inning ending double play. In the fifth inning with one out Trevor Brown walked. David Harriman singled to left to move Brown to second. Chris Tritle would then pop out to the catcher. Brian Ingram then would reach on a fielder's choice, with Harriman out at second to end the inning.

Ben Moore started for the Yankees and didnt pitched that badly, he went five inning, giving up three hits and one run. Moore walked two and struck out five. Randy Vanderplow then came in and pitched two no hit innings to register his first league win of the year.
